Greetings amigos,
As we entered the final minutes of the season, we had what would have arguably been the greatest comeback in Predictio history. As the final whistles blew around the country, we were left with probably the most relieved champion yet. Mr Moore spent large swathes of the final 30 minutes of the season at the top of the table; had late goals fallen his way at any of the games at The Amex, Turf Moor, The City Ground or The London Stadium, he would have put daylight between himself and the rest of the pack and secured his third Predictio title. As it happened, it was Mr Stewart-Jones who had a late goal fall his way - an 89th minute consolation by Jean-Phillipe Mateta delivered SJ his 39th spot-on of the season and landed him a record sixth domestic title and eleventh major honour of his career to date by virtue of his superior spot-ons tally (both managers finished on 225 points apiece). May I be the first to congratulate SJ on a truly fantastic season - a league and cup double for the third time in his career. At the same time, heartfelt commiserations to Mr Moore - the monthly silverware was secured but will no doubt be scant consolation and discarded faster than the video files on a Southampton FC intern's mobile phone. Elsewhere Mr Luke and myself scored 8, Mr O'Callaghan 7, and Mr Raistrick and Mr Crinnion scored 5.
Any mistakes let me know - thank you to all managers for your participation this season.
Take it easy,
Danny
