Results (14th & 15th December)

Greetings amigos,

As we approach the crucial festive period of the season, things could not be tighter at the top of the overall table, with just 1 point separating the top three managers.  Our current league leader is Mr Luke after he scored a very solid 10 points including 2 spot-ons, outscoring Mr Stewart-Jones (8) and Mr Raistrick (7) in the process to go top by virtue of a greater spot-ons haul than SJ.  Elsewhere Mr O'Callaghan was the leading scorer of the week with an impressive 12 points, which took him above Mr Crinnion in the overall standings, as Nick amassed 4 points this time around.  To complete the picture, I scored 8 points, Mr Moore 6 and Mr West 4.

The Soares Cup: Matchday 4

Greetings amigos,

Matchday 4 saw possibly the tightest set of encounters in the history of The Soares Cup, as there was nothing to separate managers in two of the three matches.  Groups A and B both produced draws this time around, as Adam and Theo W shared 10 points and Phil and Ben shared 12 points in their respective fixtures.  The main beneficiary in Group A was Nick, who has a 4 point advantage over the chasing pack with 2 games remaining.  Things are much tighter in Group B, with just 2 points separating top from bottom in the group.  In Group C I managed the only win of the round, as I overcame Theo L 8-5 to open up a 3 point lead at the top of the standings.

Another low scoring week this time around, with no managers achieving double figures from the weekend's games.  Mr Stewart-Jones uncharacteristically stumbled as he scored 3 points, which provided an opportunity for the chasing pack.  Mr Raistrick was the main beneficiary, as he scored 6 points to level SJ's overall tally and leapfrog him into top spot on account of his greater haul of spot-ons.  Elsewhere Mr Crinnion and myself top scored with 8 points apiece, whilst Mr Moore scored 6 points and Mr West, Mr Luke and Mr O'Callaghan all scored 5.

Greetings amigos,

The final fixtures of November produced some surprising results, and as such the scoring at the end of the month was pretty low; music to the ears of Mr Crinnion, who, despite only scoring 3 points in total (2 in November, 1 in December) managed to hold onto his top spot in the monthly race to secure the eighteenth MotM award of his career to date - congratulations amigo!  Mr West was the standout performer as he added 11 points to his tally, including an eye-catching 5 pointer from the 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.  Elsewhere scoring was of the middle-of-the-road variety, as Mr Stewart-Jones, Mr Raistrick and myself scored 7 apiece, Mr O'Callaghan 6, Mr Luke 5 and Mr Moore 3.

One thing is for sure in Predictio - if you leave the door ajar, you always run the risk that the chasing pack will burst through it.  So it proved last time around, as then league leader Mr Luke stumbled with a mere 2 point haul, which enabled the chasing pack to cash in.  Mr Raistrick was the main beneficiary, as he capitalised via a solid 10 points to draw level with Lucozade and take his place at the summit by virtue of his larger spot-ons haul in the season to date.  The other two managers currently in the top 4 also took advantage, as Mr Stewart-Jones scored 6 points and Mr Moore top scored with 13.  Elsewhere Mr West had an eye catching week as he scored 11 points, I scored 9, Mr Crinnion 8 and Mr O'Callaghan 7.  Mr McClay did not trouble the scorers.

The Soares Cup: Matchday 3

Greetings amigos,

The halfway point of the group stage produced 3 convincing wins.  In Group A Nick defeated Adam by the biggest margin of the round via a 14-5 win; Crindog already has one foot in the semi-finals as he has opened up a 5 point advantage over the rest of the group.  In Group B SJ beat Phil 9-3 to go top of the table, although all is still to play for with just 3 points separating top from bottom.  Finally in Group C I went through the motions to defeat no-show Mr McClay 8-0 to sneak past Theo L into top spot on points difference.
