Greetings amigos,
At 17:50 on the final day of the Predictio season, the famous trophy was suspended in limbo over the Atlantic Ocean as Mr Luke and myself were neck and neck - at that stage both of us had 325 points, with the games at White Hart Lane (where Theo had predicted a 2-1 Spurs win vs 2-0 from myself) and the Britannia Stadium (1-1 for Theo, 0-2 Wigan for me) looking like the games that would decide matters. Fittingly, a Spurs winner duly arrived, crowning Mr Luke as the 2010-11 title winner in the process - my warmest congratulations amigo, well done! I should also mention that Theo's vastly superior spot-ons record meant that although I equaled his tally going into injury time, he would still have triumphed without Pavlyuchenko's last gasp effort. Having led the table since early November, and being a runner-up on two previous occasions, Lucozade fully deserves his title.
With matters at the top of the table resolved, there was a last day scramble for the May Manager of the Month Award and final league positions. Mr Raistrick could be forgiven for thinking that he'd done enough to secure his first Predictio silverware as he notched 10 points, however, Mr Soares' very impressive 12 point haul overtook Ben at the final hurdle. Having won 2 of the last 3 monthly awards on offer, Swoz will be confident going into next season. Swoz's efforts secured a career best 4th place finish, overtaking Ben and the other debutant, Mr McClay (who scored 5) who finished in 5th and 6th respectively. Finally, Mr Stewart-Jones ended his season with a 6 point haul finishing 7th in the process and Mr Crinnion gained one less with 5, which left him in 8th. Mr O'Callaghan (3rd) and Mr Moore (9th) both elected to extend their summer break by a week as they did not submit predictions.
Last of all, thank you to all managers for taking part in the 2010-11 Predictio season, one that produced the closest title race since the first season all the way back in 2004-05, and one that saw two managers join the fold to take the number of league members up to nine. Rest well over the summer, as we go again for 2011-12 on 13th August.
Any mistakes let me know.
Take it easy,
Danny
