Predictio Results - Final Day

Greetings amigos

The 2007-08 Predictio season came to its conclusion on Sunday with 3 managers still in the hunt for the title. Over the course of the afternoon, the trophy was momentarily in my grasp (at half time) but as second halves progressed up and down the country it became increasingly clear that Mr Crinnion was going to hold off the challenge from myself and Mr O'Callaghan and lift the 2007-08 title trophy. Fittingly, the final kick of the season was a goal that delivered another spot-on for our new champion - an unlikely equalising goal for Bolton at Chelsea - and it has been his talent for accumulating spot-ons that has secured the championship for Crindog.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate our new champion - Nick, you are a very worthy winner having been top of the pack for much of the season and your spot-on rate this year has been sensational. I'm sure the predictio community will join me in congratulating you on your achievement. 4 Predictio seasons and 4 different champions - it seems predictio is anything but predictable.

Elsewhere Adam and myself had almost identical weeks apart from the fact that O'Callaghan managed a spot-on. Amazingly this means that we finish exactly level in every respect - points, spot-ons and MotM Awards (Adam secured the May trophy this week - congratulations mate). Therefore, for the first time in Predictio history, we have joint runners-up. The battle for 5th between Mr Stewart-Jones and Mr Moore was edged by Mad Dog as he scored 6 points to SJ's 4.

All in all it's been a great season - thanks to all for taking part. There's not much time to relax however, as Euro 2008 is just around the corner. Some managers will have heard murmurings about a potential rule change for the 2008-09 season, regarding 5 point spot-ons for a spot-on involving either 0 or 4 or more goals - I suggest we pilot this approach during the Euro tournament to determine whether or not it should be incorporated into the league competition.

Take it easy

Danny
