The Soares Cup: Semi-Final 1st Leg

Greetings amigos,

Two managers will be clearing their diaries in anticipation of a May showpiece final, as the first legs produced a pair of convincing victories. In the first semi-final, SJ defeated a no-show Theo W 5-0 to open up a commanding lead, whilst in the other game Nick triumphed over Adam 10-5 to put one foot in the final.

Greetings amigos,

Mr Crinnion's hopes of glory this season are firmly pinned on The Soares Cup, however, he demonstrated his domestic capabilities by leading the scoring over the last fortnight; Nick added 14 points to his score and will hope he can take that sort of form into the home straight of his season, which could end in major silverware. I was next in line with 12 points, which was sufficient to secure the monthly silverware, my first of the season and 40th of my career. Mr Moore (11) and Mr O'Callaghan (8) again took steps towards reigning in Mr Stewart-Jones' lead at the top of the table, as our league leader added 6 points to his total. SJ's lead is now down to 9 points, and, whilst it's still a handy margin, he will no doubt be mindful that his advantage was almost 3 times the size back in January. To complete the picture, Mr Raistrick scored 5 points and Mr Luke amassed 2; no predictions from Mr West and Mr McClay.

Mr O'Callaghan's title challenge continued its momentum this weekend as he top scored with 9 points, securing his second consecutive monthly silverware in the process, the 33rd of his career to date - congratulations amigo! Mr Stewart-Jones had a solid enough week adding 7 points to his tally, but with his lead at the top standing at 11 points he has reason to be looking over his shoulder. Elsewhere Mr Raistrick and myself matched our league leader's score, Mr Moore scored 4, Mr Luke 3 and Mr Crinnion 2. Mr West and Mr McClay did not trouble the scorers.
