Results (13th May)

Greetings amigos,

The last two seasons saw our title winner on both occasions - Mr Stewart-Jones - win at a canter, with 30 point winning margins applying to each final table.  This season was the complete opposite, with just 9 points separating the top four manager - the closest margin for the top quartet on record.  Given his excellent record over the final two months of the season, the sensible money seemed to be on Mr O'Callaghan, who, despite going into the final day 3 points behind myself in top spot, looked good to win his first domestic title.  And win it he did, in some style.  Adam comfortably won the final day shootout by notching a very impressive 3 spot-ons amongst a 12 point haul.  Ad not only took the Predictio title but also the May monthly award.  May I be the first to congratulate Mr O'Callaghan on his maiden domestic title; he accrued the most spot-ons this year by a margin, and his form at the business end of the season has been too much for the rest of us to live with - massive congratulations amigo!

My season ended on a dull note as the 6 points I amassed were never going to be enough to stop Adam's title charge.  Mr Crinnion came out marginally better on 7 points, but like myself he'll look back on this season as a missed opportunity having led the way for large parts of the campaign.  To complete the round-up of the top four, Mr Stewart-Jones finished his season with a very solid 9 point haul, perhaps a precursor to his upcoming Predictio World Cup campaign, a tournament in which his performance level is peerless.  Elsewhere Mr Raistrick scored 7 points, whilst Mr Luke and Mr West scored 6 apiece.  Mr Moore and Mr McClay both failed to submit their predictions, instead opting for World Cup scouting missions.

Finally, thank you very much to all managers for your participation in Predictio 2017-18.  Keep your eyes peeled for information about Predictio World Cup 2018.

Take it easy,

Danny

The Soares Cup: Final

Greetings amigos,

Last weekend saw the staging of the 2018 Soares Cup Final - Theo L and Nick went head to head in what proved to be an incredibly tight affair.  Both managers secured a single spot-on apiece making the score 3-3 going into Sunday's games; ultimately it was Theo's prediction that Arsenal would defeat Burnley that proved to be the difference, as he edged Nick out 5-4 - probably the happiest he's ever been to see The Gunners triumph.

Mr Luke - congratulations on your maiden Soares Cup!  And commiserations to Mr Crinnion, who misses out on both becoming the first manager to retain the trophy and on winning the tournament for a third occasion.

Theo L  5 v 4  Nick

Until next year!

Take it easy,

Danny

Results (5th & 6th May)

Greetings amigos,

It's going to the wire.  Four managers could walk away with the title on Sunday at 5pm, as just 9 points now separate the top four positions.  Mr O'Callaghan's superb form continued as he top scored with 7 points - Ad is now just 3 points behind myself and, if he continues his form into the final weekend, he can be confident of securing the first domestic title of his career.  Mr Stewart-Jones is also showing signs of a late surge, as his 5 point haul brought him to within 9 points of top spot - SJ has gone completely under the radar but a record third consecutive title is not out of the question by any means.  Mr Crinnion and myself had frustrating weeks as we scored just 4 and 2 points respectively, contributing no end to the congestion at the top.  Elsewhere Mr Luke scored 5 points whilst Mr Raistrick was a point behind on 4.  Mr West, Mr McClay and Mr Moore took the week off.

Any mistakes let me know - fixtures to follow.

Take it easy,

Danny

Results (28th & 29th April)

Greetings amigos,

Mr Raistrick continued his storming form in April by top scoring with 11 points to take the monthly silverware by an impressive 13 point margin; it's the eleventh MotM Award of Jamine's career to date - congratulations amigo!  Mr Stewart-Jones matched the weekly pace to gain further ground on the managers above him in the table, whilst Mr O'Callaghan scored 9 points to leapfrog Mr Crinnion (who scored 3) into second place.  Elsewhere I matched Adam's tally of 9 points, Mr West scored 7 and Mr Moore was one behind on 6.  Mr Luke and Mr McClay failed to submit predictions.

Any mistakes let me know - fixtures to follow.
