Results (14th & 15th April)

Greetings amigos,

Mr McClay demonstrated bouncebackability of the ilk that would have Iain Dowie whooping with delight this week, as he responded to being knocked off top spot by notching 8 points in what was a very low scoring week to return to pole position in the race for the title. Mr Crinnion seemingly allowed the added pressure of being the champion-elect get to him as he scored a disappointing 2 points - Nick now trails Dave by 4 points with just 4 rounds of the season to go. Mr Stewart-Jones and Mr Luke, who scored 4 and 5 points respectively, will still consider themselves in with a shout of the title, although they'll need a big week sometime soon if either of them want to lift the trophy in May. For the rest of us, the 2011-12 campaign is fading fast: my challenge is seemingly over after a disappointing 3 points, whilst Mr Raistrick (3), Mr O'Callaghan (4) and Mr Moore (5) will all be building towards the summer Euro 2012 tournament. Mr West failed to submit predictions, no doubt preparing himself for the international format later this year.

Any mistakes let me know, fixtures to follow.

Take it easy,

Danny

The Soares Cup: Semi-final 2nd Leg Results

Greetings amigos,

Semi-finals - always a horrible time to lose as after all, no one remembers the losers. That's the pain that Mr Stewart-Jones and myself will have to overcome this time around as we were both knocked out at the penultimate stage. Mr Luke completed a fully deserved 16-13 win over myself - Theo won both legs and will take the best record of this year's tournament so far (5 wins, 1 defeat) into the final full of confidence. Mr McClay will also feel that he has momentum however, as he managed to overturn a 2 goal deficit to run out a 17-14 winner over SJ. Here's a confirmation of the semi-final results:

Dave 11 (17) v 6 (14) SJ
Theo L 8 (16) v 6 (13) Danny

So the first ever final of The Soares Cup will be Dave v Theo L and will be held on Sunday, 13th May - the final day of the Predictio season. With both managers flying high in the Predictio league table, there could be a historic double in the offing. Time, as always, will tell.

Take it easy,

Danny

Results (7th & 8th April)

Greetings amigos,

A weekend that saw the Premiership title all but sewn up saw its Predictio counterpart anything but finalised. Those looking for similarities between the two competitions would settle on Mr McClay as the champion elect starting to show signs of weakness, as Dave now finds himself out of top spot for the first time since late January. The Ulsterman has every right to feel aggrieved given that he scored a more than solid 11 points this week. 2007-08 champion Mr Crinnion is showing signs that he could add the 2011-12 title to his name as he's hitting form at exactly the right time; his amazing 17 point haul (including 4 spot-ons) this week sees him leapfrog Dave into 1st place. Nick will be hoping he can maintain his momentum during the last few weeks of the season. Mr O'Callaghan led the best of the rest as he scored 9 points, with Mr Raistrick and Mr Luke (both 8) and Mr Stewart-Jones and myself (both 6) completing the picture. Mr West and Mr Moore both failed to submit predictions.

Any mistakes let me know; fixtures to follow.

Take it easy,

Danny

Results (31st March & 1st April)

Greetings amigos,

Just when you thought that the chasing pack could not close the gap on our league leader, a manager steps up to the plate and changes the complexion of the run in. Mr Crinnion produced an astounding weekly haul of 17 points (including 4 spot-ons) to climb to 3rd place in the table and within 4 points of Mr McClay, who scored 7 points. Nick would have gone into 2nd place had it not been for Mr Stewart-Jones' impressive 10 points, which will have Dave looking over his shoulder. 4th placed Mr Luke scored 8 points, which was enough to maintain his lead at the top of the monthly table and as such win the monthly silverware (the 10th of his career) - congratulations amigo! I managed to add 12 points to my total to keep me in touch with the race for the title. Elsewhere Mr O'Callaghan scored 7 points, Mr Raistrick 6 and Mr Moore and Mr West both scored 5 apiece.

Any mistakes let me know, fixtures to follow.

Take it easy,

Danny
